I moved to Seward in 2003. This is where I met my husband and where we choose to raise our daughter. Prior to moving here I lived around Alaska, including King Cove, Sitka, Fort Yukon and Fairbanks.
I came to Alaska in 1993 to go to UAF to get my Master's of Science degree in Geophysics, specializing in Glaciology.
(hikers @ Exit Glacier)
Prior to that I got my Bachelor's of Science degree in Physics at Miami University in Ohio, the state where I grew up.
I have worked in the education field most of my adult life; starting as an Visiting Professor at UAS-Sitka, then teaching high school and then middle school. After twelve years at Seward Middle School I came around full circle and I am now back to teaching adult learners.
I am excited to get to share my passion for math with students who are going to be focusing on the actual math they will be able to immediately put into use in their program. It is rewarding to go to graduation each term and hear about the jobs my students have gotten and to see their pride in accomplishing this first step in their career goals.
